ERASMUS+ "SOCIABLE ROBOTS"

About the "SOCIABLE ROBOTS" project

SOCIABLE ROBOTS is a project financed and following the guidelines provided by the Erasmus+ program in which five different countries participate. The overall project is coordinated by a single country, Poland and the participating center is "Szkoła Podstawowa im. Tadeusza Kościuszki w Lubiczu Górnym". The other participating centers are: Romania, Scoala Gimnaziala Sfanta Treime, from Portugal, Agrupamento de Escolas Sá de Miranda, one from Latvia, Ventspils 1.pamatskola and IES Sierra de Guadarrama de Soto del Real (Madrid).

The main project primary objectives were as follows:

  • To improve digital and linguistic competencies through the preparation of results: multimedia presentations, films, photos, programming educational games and robots in practical contexts, creating a project logo, preparing and uploading materials on project and school websites in mother and English language
  • To promote inter-cultural exchange and the development of interpersonal skills by preparing and presenting the results: multimedia presentations of the mobilities and cultural presentations of the partner countries to the wide public in mother tongue and English, taking part in workshops, presenting games, and created robots, sharing gained knowledge with younger students prepare the robot performance and in informal activities discovering different extracurricular activities and transferring the most interesting and practical aspects into schools - result: the event "A Day of the safe Internet" and debate in all partner schools
  • To increase cooperation between institutions on a local and European level through the exchange of good practices with the result of sharing project ideas and products during the meetings with the representatives of local and regional schools, and through the Erasmus+ platform
  • To face young people with social inclusion and well-being through exploring and practicing cultural similarities and differences in the way of behaviour in certain situations: at the airport, on trips, at host school and families - taking part in mobilities and presenting multimedia presentations,
  • To revise and strengthen the professional profile of the teaching process by sharing practice and teaching strategies to learn from one another and by discovering similarities the teachers` personalities will be strengthened
  • To prevent threats resulting from using the Internet through taking part in lessons and informal activities, the products are scenarios of lessons, films, multimedia presentations, interviews with students and teachers, debate, common poster as a report of the event "A Day of the safe Internet". All these objectives are closely linked to the school curriculum and selected priorities. Students working in this project will improve digital and linguistic competencies through the innovative way of teaching and learning - workshops, teamwork, informal activities, they will be proud of their countries, presenting cultural heritage during the mobilities and showing a cultural presentation.

 

Meetings

C1 Romania 24-30.11.2019

24.11.19-teams  arrived in Bucharest, Romania and met the host families. 25.11-Morning- Students and teachers met at Polytechnic University for the visit opening. Then integrated activities with host school students, cultural presentation of host country “What I love Romania for” was held. Host students presented country and provided a quiz. Spanish team got first, then Romanian, Latvian, Polish and Portuguese. Quizzes will be followed on next meetings. After lunch students went to the Real Escape Room. 26.11-Morning- All met at Polytechnic University and did a workshop about “Identification of threats which a student may be exposed to when using the Internet”. Students  worked in transnational teams using brainstorm, a map of threats, posters in English. Then students presented work done in front of host school students and visitors. Meanwhile the coordinators meeting was held to discuss project activities, make changes, dispel any doubts. After lunch students built the robots. 27.11-Morning- All met at Polytechnic University and learnt about Scratch programming. Then they tried the programmes with their robots. They did a demo with the basic scratch commands with the robots – students worked in transnational teams. Each team presented the work done in front of the host school students. 28.11–All went  for an all day trip to Sibiu. We took the Transfăgărășan road, then took a funicular lit to the Carpathian mountains. Finally we arrived in Sibiu where we visited the town. 29.11- Morning- All visited a well-known IT company- NTT Data, where workers explained to us how the company works and what robots can do for us. After lunch students and teachers filled in the evaluation questionnaires and got certificates. The project coordinator summed up mobility. Teachers supervised students' work and helped in difficulties. Before, during and after mobility host school will disseminate information about the visit to target groups. Representatives from all project partner schools took part in all activities.

Results: Visitors gained knowledge about host country, compared their schools, gained historical overview on capital city and country and knowledge about Romanian inventors and technology. Living in families students met real culture and normal life. Families and students improved their linguistic and social skills. Participants improved their linguistic skills, got knowledge about the Internet threats, practical skills about programming in scratch, learnt how to work in international teams and improved their self – confidence performing in front of public. They were proud of their country and school. For coordinators: certainty of correct implementation of the project activities. Activities were tied up with curriculum and made in practical way on higher level of knowledge. Students and teachers of host school  took part in integrated activities and presentations of work done. They talked to visitors and gained information they were interested in.

C2 LATVIA 23-29.02.2020

23.02.20-All teams arrived in Riga and after having lunch together went to Ventspils by bus and met the host families. 24.02-Morning- All met at school for the visit opening. Latvian team welcomed us and all teams introduced themselves. Latvian students informed about their country and we had the quiz. The score now is: Poland 5, Spain 5, Romania 4, Latvia 3, Portugal 3. We enjoyed the school choir, traditional Latvian dances and activities performed by Latvian students. Then we enjoyed an ice breaking activity. Then we visited the Ventspils City Hall and we went for a city tour. 25.02-Morning-All met at school and started working with robots. They assembled and programmed them: “Our Robots can move”. They moved following different directions. Then we visited ICT faculty at the University. We could see laboratories and activities they carry out. 26.02-Morning-All met at school and went on working with robots. They had to go through different workstations: obstacles, find the letters for a name, find its way in a map, etc. Coordinators held a meeting to organize project activities and prepare for next visits. Teachers visited school’s premises. Then each team presented the work done. Then we visited Ventspils Livonian Order Castle and House of Crafts and enjoyed a jazz concert at the concert hall. 27.02-Morning-All met at school and had the workshop “Digital identity - what the network and mobile phone knows about us”. Then we visited Kuldīga. We visited the town and waterfalls. 28.02-Morning-All met at the Vocational school and visited the premises. Then we went to Ventspils Creative House, the planetarium and enjoyed interesting films.  Then we had the closing ceremony. The project coordinator summed up mobility. 29.02-After visiting Riga, all teams departed from Latvia. Teachers supervised students' work and helped in difficulties. Before, during and after mobility host school will disseminate information about the visit to target groups. Representatives from project partner schools took part in all activities.

C3 PORTUGAL 24-30.10.2021

23/24.10.21 teams arrived in Braga. Due to a lock-down Latvian team could not join the visit, by they participated via Meet. 25.10.21 All teams met at the school theatre for teams presentation and school presentation. After a school visit, we had a robot demonstration by A. Fernando Ferreira from the University of Minho. Then we had lunch and visited the city Hall from Braga. Finally, we had a guided tour around the city of Braga. 26.10.21 Portuguese students gave the presentation “What I love my country for “ and then students did the quiz. This time it was the Romanian team  who won. Then, Portuguese students provided a presentation on Cyberbullying and all the students, in mixed groups, worked to create their own poster. They programmed the robots also. Teachers held a meeting. Then we took a bus to Guimaraes. We visited the castle and the city, and got the historic explanation from a History teacher from the Portuguese school. 27.10.2021 All teams met at school and started working on their robots: showed what they had done the day before and then they started programming the robots voices. First, they introduced their names and nationalities, and then they programmed the robots to say sentences in the partner’s language. After lunch, we went to visit Bom Jesus do Monte, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Teams met for dinner. 28.10.2021 All teams met at school to go to Porto. We visited the most important landmarks (Casa do Comercio, Railway station) and we walked in the streets. After lunch, we crossed the bridge to Gaia and took a cruise along the Douro river. Then we had natas, the typical Portuguese cake. We headed to Vila do Conde, a coastal town and had a short walk by the beach. 29.10.2021 We had a quiz at school on our visit to Bom Jesus. Then we had a presentation by Raul Bordalo  Junquiero, Head of Smart Cities and Business Development. After that, we had a presentation made by Carlos Carvalho a teacher at the School de Miranda and a programming engineer. We completed the questionnaire on the visit to Portugal. In the evening, we met for the farewell celebration: farewell speeches, visit video, certificates. After that, we had dinner, traditional Portuguese food cooked by the Portuguese families and we ended with a wonderful concert by the Orchestra of traditional string instruments from Braga. 30.10.21 Polish, Romanian and Spanish teams left Portugal. The mobility was summed up. All the partners participated in activities. Teachers supervised students’ work. RESULTS: Visitors gained knowledge of the language, history, cuisine and traditions of Portugal. Compared and learnt new linguistic, social and IT skills. We raised the awareness of the dangers of Internet. All the tasks were implemented correctly and aimed at the projects curriculum. Students and teachers of a host school were very active and helpful.

C4 SPAIN 13-19.03.2022

Teams arrived in Spain on Sunday the 13th March. On Monday the 14th teams met at  school and used scratch to program the robots to shine with the colours of the flags of the five countries.  Later we visited Soto and the CAT, where we were received by the mayor and the councilor for education. Tuesday the 15th started with integration and programming the robots to dance to the rhythm of different songs. Teachers held a meeting. Then, we went to Manzanares del Real,  where the mayor received us. Later the students enjoyed a gymkhana created by the Spanish students. After lunch, we had a trekking in La Pedriza, in the National Park of Sierra de Guadarama. On Wednesday the 16th we took a trip to Peñalara and Segovia to understand the importance of the environmental studies. We had lunch in Segovia and had a walk there. On Thursday the 17th we went to Madrid. At the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería y Diseño Industrial from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Alberto Brunete González and David Álvarez organized a robotics workshop in which students programmed a robotic arm to perform various tasks. On Friday the 18th we had a workshop on Fake News , in which students realized how easy it is to give veracity to false news. Then we walked to the "La Roca del Fénix" climbing wall. Later we enjoyed a concert by Spanish students directed by Marta García, music teacher. Finally, we completed the questionnaire on the visit to Spain. Spanish students gave the presentation “What I love my country for” and  then students did the quiz. This time it was the Romanian team who won. Finally we had the ceremony for Certificates and a farewell party.  On Sunday the 19th teams left Spain.  supervised students' work and helped in difficulties. Host school will disseminate information about the visit to target groups. Representatives from project partner schools took part in all activities. Results: Visitors gained knowledge about host country, compared their schools, gained historical overview. Students improved their linguistic and social skills, practical skills about programming in scratch, fake news,  learnt how to work in international teams and improved their self – confidence. They were proud of their country and school. For coordinators: certainty of correct implementation of the project activities. Activities were tied up with curriculum and made in practical way on higher level of knowledge. Students and teachers of host school  took part in integrated activities and presentations of work done.

C5 POLAND 07-14.05.2022

Romanian team arrived in Toruń on Saturday the 7th May the rest of the teams arrived on Sunday. On Monday the 9th teams met at school for teams presentation. Then students created a robot that could draw. Project’s robots where dressed with traditional clothes from participating countries and they said hello to all team’s members. We enjoyed a video that summarizing the project.We had the Robot Races championship. Students enjoyed a sports competition and disco at school. On Tuesday we had a trip to Gdańsk to enjoy a guided visit of the town and a ride in the Wheel. Students met with the families. On Wednesday the 11th we took the bus to Piwnice to visit the Observatory . We had the explanation about the telescopes they have (some from the beginning of the 20th century). Then, we visited Lubicz Town Hall and the mayor welcomed us to their village. After lunch at school, we went for a guided visit in Toruń, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Students went with the families. On Thursday the 12th teams met at school to work on robots. We programmed games in scratch. After lunch, students created some posters with the pictures and information from the Safe Internet Day and had a presentation on it. Then, we took the bus to Ciechocinek and enjoyed a guided visit to the city, well known because of its waters. Students went with the families. On Friday the 13th teams met at school. We had a concert by the school’s choir. Then we had the presentation of Poland and the quiz. The points went as follows: Portugal 4, Spain 3, Romania 1, Latvia 2. The final score is: Poland 9, Spain 10, Romania 13, Latvia 8, Portugal 10. So the winner is Romania. They were awarded. Then, students and teachers took the evaluation questionnaires. After that, we had the closing ceremony with the Certificates. We enjoyed the afternoon at the Bowling alley and went for a tour to the fort IV. Students went with the families. On Saturday the 14th Romanian, Portuguese, Latvian and Spanish teams left Poland.

Students improved their linguistic and social skills during workshops, practical skills about programming in scratch, building own robots,  learnt how to work in international teams and improved their self – confidence. Living with families made them learn about the typical polish behaviours.  They were proud of their country and school. For coordinators: certainty of correct implementation of the project activities. Activities were tied up with curriculum and made in practical way on higher level of knowledge. Students and teachers of host school  took part in integrated activities and presentations of work done.
